Malvern Primary School, Liverpool
The Client Brief
The Headmaster at Malvern Primary School requested quotations for a HD projection screen installation system at their school hall. At first, we imagined a straight forward electric screen and projector installation. This was before it was mentioned that they would require the largest screen possible!
We visited the school and looked at the possibilities. The room measured 20m long by 12m wide. This “sports hall” size room would require installing a bright enough projector and a suitable lens to fully fit the screen.
The Products
With a keen eye on the budget, we set about finding the best products to suit. We found a screen solution from Screen International. This Italian manufacturer builds bespoke sizes so we were able to order a 7.2m wide screen.
The next decision to make was to find a projector with a suitable lens. The Eiki EK-510U Projector was a perfect match. Buying an additional lens would cost in excess of £1000. However we were able to perfectly match the lens that comes with the projector to fill the 7m screen.
JBL 612 powered speakers were chosen as the audio solution. These compact but powerful speakers were just the job to handle the audio split from the installed HDMI connection point.

The Installation
So we had decided on the products but the biggest task lay ahead; how to install them!
To position a screen measuring 7.2m wide we would need to install it several meters off the floor. The question was how do we raise such a big screen weighing 124Kg?

The solution to our problem sat in our Lighting Hire Department. We deployed our heavy duty lifting stands to raise the screen to exactly where we needed it.
We instructed specialist company Height Access Solutions to supply the resin anchor fixings and carry out the installation of the screen brackets. A total of 16 fixings were tested for the screen installation each passing a pull-test carried out at 500Kg. Although over 50 times the load of the screen; this providing reassurance that wall and fixings were more than capable of supporting the screen load.
Summary
The projection screen installation system at Malvern Primary will now be the focal point of every event held at the school. From assemblies to parents evenings and productions; it will help showcase the great work achieved by pupils at the school.

Malvern Primary School Testimonial
“We are absolutely delighted with the projector and screen recently installed in our school hall by Kick Audio Visual. From the initial consultation, Peter was extremely professional and listened attentively to our requests in order to carefully tailor the installation to meet our specific requirements. The screen and projector were installed with minimum impact and we would strongly recommended Kick and Peter to other organization’s looking to install any new audio / media equipment.
Once again, thank you so much for your efforts with the screen installation – it is already proving to be a huge success with the children in holiday club.”
